    Management plan

    • Is the MPA management documented? Yes
    • Comments : Conservation objectives, information on pressures and threats, and details of the habitats and species are contained within the Regulation 33 package published in 2006. Updated Conservation Objectives and Advice to Support Management (new Regulation 33 package that includes conservation objectives with site specific information, pressures/threats, advice on management and information on conservation measures) in development - to be completed for March 2020. Spatial information on National Marine Plan Interactive.Fisheries management measures were published in 2016.
    • Are the measures to achieve the conservation objectives being implemented? Yes
    • Comments : Licensable activities are subject to HRA which considers the likelihood of causing a threat or pressure and ensures mitigation where required. Fisheries management measures are in place - the Inshore Fishing (Prohibition of Fishing and Fishing Methods) (Scotland) Order - Lochs DLA - came into force 2016, and Southern Inner Sound Fisheries Area.
    • Is monitoring in place to assess if measures are working? Partial
    • Comments : Detailed monitoring studies to explore the effects of new fisheries management measures targeted at a small number of sites and protected features. Quantitative data have been collected. Future monitoring programme to be determined via the Scottish MPA Monitoring Strategy.
    • Is the MPA moving towards or has reached its conservation objectives? Partial
    • Comments : 2012 Latest Assessed Condition - Unfavourable declining Summary condition - Unfavourable (declines in biogenic reef component; stony reefs unknown; bedrock reefs favourable)
